Our Story

The Pawville Story - Veterinary Edition

Our Story Begins - 2023

After many years of running successful boarding and daycare facilities, Phil & Amanda felt there was still a void in services they could offer to their clients and began looking into opening a veterinary clinic right here in Wilmington! It was when they met and partnered with Gretchen Hutt, DVM that everything really started to materialize. Dr. Gretchen owned her own practice in Durham for 28 years, recently selling it to retire...or so she thought! Under her supervision and ownership, we are pleased to offer the first Pawville walk-in clinic! This facility, opening June 2023, serves as the cornerstone for other future Pawville veterinary clinics.

Dr. Gretchen Hutt DVM

Cheif Veterinary Officer

Originally from Louisville, Ky. Dr. Gretchen graduated from University of Kentucky with an undergraduate degree and then Auburn University with a DVM in 1984. She owned a practice in Durham for 28 years and then thought she was going to retire in Wilmington. Dr. Gretchen and her husband have been section hiking on the Appalachian Trail for about 8 years and have completed almost 700 miles on it. When she's not caring for animals or hiking, she also has a love for playing Pickleball and just walking their dogs, Cooper, an 8 year old Chihuahua mix adopted from the Durham Co Animal Shelter and Nacho, a Labradoodle that was supposed to be a mini but he weighs 50lbs. Dr. Gretchen is Level 3 Fear Free certified and is totally committed to making every pet’s visit to the clinic as fear free as possible.
